BBC's 35th ANNUAL INSTRUCTIONAL CYCLING SERIES

The BALTIMORE BICYCLING CLUB'S very popular Instructional Cycling Series will begin with an orientation to be held on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Towson University in Room 121 of the 7800 York Road Building.  This is a new location at TU from previous years!  Directions are provided below.

This series is offered to anyone over 16 years of age interested in learning the basic skills of cycling, including doing minor road repairs and improving as a rider.  We can help you find your best riding level and develop so you can ride on the BBC casual rides by the end of the series.  Experienced riders can meet other BBC members and learn about group riding.  The cycling series will cover both road and recreational trail riding.  And we do have something for faster riders. Athletes and charity riders wanting to work on their gearing, cycling techniques and road skills are welcome.

At the orientation, we will demonstrate cycling skills and techniques, discuss bicycles, equipment and clothing and answer any questions about the program.  We will watch a short, informative video on cycling safety and bike handling.  The orientation is indoors and will be held RAIN OR SHINE.  There will be no ride and you cannot bring a bike into the building. We will teach you how to do a bike check before the start of first few rides.

DIRECTIONS– Take Exit 25 – Charles Street- from the Baltimore Beltway (I‑695) and go South on Charles Street for approximately 2.1 miles (get in left turn lane).  Make a left on Towsontown Blvd. and at the second traffic light, make a RIGHT onto Osler Drive. Take Osler Drive to the second traffic light, get into the left-turn lane and make a LEFT onto Cross Campus Drive.  Go past three crosswalks, up the hill and make a LEFT into the second driveway to the Glen Garage (Large sign on your left, you can’t miss it).  You will be on the third floor.  Wind your way down and park anywhere except handicapped or reserved at all times spaces.  Go to the ground floor, make a right out of the garage and the 7800 York Road Building is right there.  Go in the first door facing the new construction, Room 121 is the first room on the left after the lobby.

Alternatively, you can come into the 7800 York Road Building (on the south edge of the campus) from York Road.  Go into the driveway between the construction and the 7800 York Road Building.  Go just past the 7800 York Road Building and make a left into the Glen Garage.
